Privacy Policy
softwarea is a one-person company: I, Ingmar Bode, develop and operate everything myself. Where it says “I” here, it refers to softwarea GmbH. I take your data protection seriously and only collect what is necessary for the respective purpose. This website dispenses with analytics and advertising services, tracking, and third-party content—with one exception for payments (see “Purchase via Paddle”).
1. Responsible Party
softwarea GmbH
Herzog-Albrecht-Str. 1
93059 Regensburg
Managing Director: Ingmar Bode
Email: info@softwarea.de
2. Website Access and Server Logs
When accessing a page, the server processes technically necessary information: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser, and operating system. This serves to deliver the website, ensure its security, and troubleshoot errors (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). The website runs on a rented server from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen (server location: Falkenstein/Vogtland, Germany). Hetzner processes the data on my behalf based on a contract for order processing (Art. 28 GDPR). I do not create access logs. The server processes IP addresses only briefly in memory, for example, to block too many requests in a short period. Technical error messages from the server may occasionally contain an IP address; these are deleted within 7 days at the latest.
Fonts, symbols, and all other components of the website reside on my own server. No data is transmitted to Google Fonts or other third parties when accessing the site.
3. Cookies
I use only technically necessary cookies (§ 25 para. 2 no. 2 TDDDG, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR):
- softwarea.lang – remembers the selected language so the homepage greets you in that language. Storage duration: one year.
- softwarea.admin – keeps you logged in after logging into your customer account. Set only after login; storage duration 14 days, deleted upon logout.
- Form Protection (.AspNetCore.Antiforgery…) – protects forms from misuse by external sites. Valid until the browser is closed.
I do not use cookies for analytics, marketing, or advertising purposes.
4. Purchase via Paddle
My products are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd., Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom, as the Merchant of Record. Paddle is your contractual partner for purchases, handles the payment, issues the invoice, and remits the value-added tax. The payment page loads a script from Paddle; you enter your payment data directly with Paddle, and I do not receive it. Paddle’s privacy policy applies: paddle.com/legal/privacy.
From Paddle, I receive your email address, product, amount, order number, and a customer identifier from Paddle for each purchase. I need this information to provide you with the product and license key (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) and to fulfill statutory retention obligations (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR).
5. Customer Account
Upon your first purchase, a customer account is created under your email address. Here, you can view your licenses and invoices. Optionally, you can store your name, company, address, country, VAT ID, and the language for emails. To log in, I send a six-digit code via email; it is valid for ten minutes and stored only as a checksum. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR. The account remains active as long as you use licenses; upon request, I delete it, provided no retention obligations exist.
6. Licenses and Activation in Apps
Each purchase includes a license key. When you activate it in one of my applications, the application transmits a checksum (SHA-256) of a device identifier, the device name, the operating system, and the application version. I do not store the device identifier itself. I use this information to limit the number of devices per license and to show you your activated devices in your customer account (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR). The interface limits requests per IP address to prevent brute-forcing keys; the IP address is held only briefly in memory for this purpose.
Licenses I give away for free are stored with the name and, if applicable, the email address of the recipient to send them the key (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).
7. Feedback from Apps
In some applications, you can send me feedback, for example, in ScanKing a scanner you would like to see supported. Transmitted are your email address, your form entries (e.g., manufacturer, model, connection, and message), the application version, and – only if you check the box – the found devices and your operating system version. I store the feedback and receive it via email so I can reply and potentially support the device (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b or f GDPR). The interface limits requests per IP address; the IP address is held only briefly in memory for this purpose. I delete the feedback once your request is resolved, or immediately upon request.
8. Notification List for Products in Development
For products still in development, you can register with your email address to be informed about news regarding this product. I store your email address, the product, the page language, and the timestamps of registration and confirmation.
Registration follows a double opt-in procedure: you first receive an email with a confirmation link. I send notifications only after your confirmation. Unconfirmed registrations are automatically deleted after seven days. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke it at any time: via the unsubscribe link in each notification or by emailing info@softwarea.de. Your address is then deleted immediately.
I write notifications in German. For other languages, I translate the text using an AI service running on my own server; your email address is not processed in this process.
9. Email Sending and Contact
I send emails (login codes, license keys, confirmations, and notifications) via the mail server of STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, which acts as a processor for this purpose (Art. 28 GDPR). If you contact me via email or phone, I process your information to handle your request (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b or f GDPR) and delete it when it is no longer needed and no retention obligations exist.
10. Storage Duration
I store personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose. Purchase and invoice data are retained for statutory periods (typically six or ten years after § 147 AO and § 257 HGB).
11. Your Rights
You have the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR), correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can revoke any given consent at any time with future effect (Art. 7 para. 3). Simply write to info@softwarea.de.
You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority; the competent authority is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach.
